vienna
December on the Danube was cool and foggy. Emphasis on foggy. Charming, certainly, but a girl with a camera does like to see a few things. So when the forecast for Vienna suggested the sun might make an appearance, I was up at sunrise to greet it. How lovely of it to finally join me.
Next stop: the Vienna Museum, before it opened to the public. All that art and no crowds? This girl was giddy. I’d like to think I maintained an air of sophistication, but I make no promises.
Behind the lens

Vienna’s Christmas market sits in front of City Hall, complete with an ice rink and a tree covered in glowing red hearts. Apparently, Christmas felt no need to be subtle.
I approve.

A Viennese Evening
The day ended with a private concert featuring Mozart and Strauss, arranged especially for our OUTbound group. A welcome drink, beautiful music, and nowhere else I needed to be.
I’m happy to report that at 54, I’ve developed a proper appreciation for classical music. What I hadn’t anticipated was how it would feel. The music grabbed me by the chest and enveloped me. Instant tears. Rather bold of Mozart and Strauss, considering we’d only just become properly acquainted.
What a glorious day. How lucky I was to be there.
