Waterfall Lodge and Retreat Wedding - Ben Lamond CA

Dancing Through Redwoods: A Wedding Photography Adventure

In the heart of Ben Lomond lies a slice of heaven known as the Waterfall Lodge and Resort.

It’s a place where towering redwoods stand as silent witnesses to the most beautiful moments life has to offer. And nestled within this serene landscape, I found myself embarking on another wedding photography journey, where every click of the camera felt like a dance with destiny.

Let me tell you, capturing a wedding isn’t just about clicking pictures; it’s about navigating through a whirlwind of emotions, light, and love, all while maintaining your balance and sanity. It’s like being the lead actor in a play where the script is written on the fly, and you’re expected to deliver a flawless performance.

From the moment the sun peeked out, casting its golden glow upon the redwood giants, I knew it was going to be a day to remember. But little did I know, it was going to be a marathon of eight hours filled with troubleshooting, composing shots, and mastering the art of interaction. As a wedding photographer, you’re not just a silent observer; you’re a part of the celebration, walking alongside the couple as they embark on this beautiful journey together. You become a friend, a confidant, and sometimes even a comedian, trying to unearth those hidden family jokes that can light up the room with laughter during portrait sessions.

But amidst the chaos and laughter, there’s a certain rhythm to it all. It’s like a soft shoe tap dance, where every step is calculated yet spontaneous, every move aimed at capturing the essence of the moment without disturbing its natural flow. And let’s not forget the adrenaline rush of trying to capture the perfect shot while balancing on the edge of a cliff (metaphorically speaking, of course). It’s a constant battle between creativity and safety, where one wrong step could send you tumbling into the unknown.

Honestly, I never imagined myself shooting weddings. It’s not something that was on my radar, but life has a funny way of leading you down unexpected paths. And with each wedding that “fell into my lap,” I found myself falling in love with the experience all over again. There’s something truly magical about being a part of someone’s special day, immortalizing their love story through the lens of my camera. It’s a privilege, a joy, and sometimes, a workout for both body and soul.

But in the end, it’s all worth it—the laughter, the tears, and the countless memories captured in each frame. So here’s to dancing through the redwoods, to capturing love in its purest form, and to the endless adventures that lie ahead. Because when you’re a wedding photographer, every moment is a story waiting to be told, and I can’t wait to see where the next chapter takes me.
